Why not just use my local Jeweller?

Most towns in the UK have a local jewellery store, indeed most towns have more than one jeweller. Some of these businesses have an on-site ‘working jeweller’, or a trained goldsmith. As with all skills and trades, experience, workmanship, and the quality of their work will differ enormously.

Most of the work undertaken by local working jewellers includes ring sizing, basic jewellery repairs, replacing missing gemstones and cleaning and polishing. Goldsmiths with the skill, training and experience required to handmake a piece of jewellery from scratch, and to complete diamond setting to a high level, are very rare.

Added to that is the skill of being able to design a beautiful, durable and piece of jewellery fit for purpose. Being a skilled goldsmith does not mean the person is a skilled designer. Likewise, a competent jewellery designer must have a deep understanding of how to create a finished piece of jewellery.

There is another key factor in the design and creation of bespoke jewellery. That is access to the finest precious metals, gemstones, and specialist cutting-edge technology to create the most impressive and finest quality jewellery.

There are good reasons why your local jeweller is best placed to keep your existing jewellery in good order. There are also good reasons why they may not be the right person to undertake the highly specialist work of transforming your existing jewellery into a new and winning design.

Having the specialist skills of jewellery design and manufacture under one roof is something we believe leads to the highest chance of a successful transformation.
