A Legacy Pendant Featuring a Diamond Created From Ashes
Angela’s Story
“I can’t thank you enough for making it so special x”
Angela contacted us with diamonds belonging to her mother-in-law and a very special blue diamond that was being created from the ashes of her late husband, Ian.
The process of creating her husband’s diamond in Switzerland had taken almost 12 months. As it neared completion, Angela began thinking about how she could combine it with her inherited diamonds in a beautiful and meaningful piece of jewellery.
She wanted to create a pendant that would sit close to her heart - bringing Ian’s diamond and her mother-in-law’s diamonds together in a new Legacy piece.
Angela’s Design Brief
Original jewellery: Loose diamonds belonging to Angela’s mother-in-law, together with diamonds from a pendant and trilogy ring, and the blue diamond created from her late husband’s ashes.
Precious metals: Create the new pendant in platinum and offset the value of Angela’s unused platinum and gold against the cost.
Design direction: Create a beautiful, wearable diamond pendant with her blue diamond as its defining feature. Use rub-over settings to reduce catching on clothing.
Finished piece: A bespoke platinum Legacy pendant featuring her blue diamond as the centrepiece.
Designing Angela’s Legacy Pendant
Angela was open to ideas from the very beginning. The most important element was her husband’s blue diamond, and Angela wanted it to stand out within the design.
She wanted a design with rub-over or bezel settings to make it as wearable as possible and less likely to catch on her clothing.
Our first concepts explored elegant drop-style pendants. However, Angela hoped to incorporate as many of her diamonds as possible, so we continued developing the ideas and presented a broader selection of designs.
Angela ultimately chose a flowing, Raindance-style cluster design that brought all her diamonds together while allowing the blue diamond to remain the focal point.
Angela’s Completed Legacy Pendant
Angela’s completed Legacy pendant was a triumph.
Created in platinum, it brought together her mother-in-law’s diamonds and, most importantly, the blue diamond created from her late husband’s ashes.
The blue diamond was positioned slightly off-centre, giving the pendant its distinctive character while ensuring the blue gemstone remained the unmistakable focal point. Angela particularly loved knowing that it would be worn close to her heart.
We fitted Angela’s existing chain securely to the pendant rather than creating a run-through design, helping the pendant remain correctly positioned when worn.
Angela Wearing Her Legacy Pendant
In Angela’s Own Words:
“I had been following this company on instagram for a long time and have absolutely loved seeing the jewellery that’s been designed, so I decided when my husband passed away to have (a piece) made... I love it! It is very special and unique.
Attention to detail is so precise with quality and care. I was shown various ideas of design via email as I could not be there in person due to the distance. I was updated regularly by email, WhatsApp and phone calls and was ready on the date chosen in advance.
Excellent service and a lovely family business that cares about their creations for the individual person. 10/10!”
