Turn inherited jewellery into something you’ll actually wear
You’ve inherited something precious. A ring, a brooch, a necklace that belonged to someone you loved. You can’t bear to part with it, but it sits in a drawer because it doesn’t suit your style, doesn’t fit, or feels too fragile to wear.
At Legacy Jewellery, our Harrogate studio specialises in inherited jewellery remodelling. We redesign your family pieces into jewellery you’ll reach for every day, using the gold and stones that already hold your memories. With over 30 years’ experience, we look after clients across the UK.

I can’t part with it, but I never wear it
Most of our clients tell us the same thing. The piece matters enormously, but it doesn’t suit how they live now. Selling it feels wrong. Keeping it locked away feels like a waste, too.
Remodelling offers a third way. Rather than leaving a family piece in a box, you can give it a new life, one that keeps its story and fits your style. Nothing is rushed, and nothing happens without your approval.
What can be reused when remodelling inherited jewellery?
In most projects, much more than people expect can be kept and reused:
Gold and precious metals. Old rings, chains and brooches can be melted and re-crafted into a new design [confirm: whether you refine and reuse the client’s own gold].
Diamonds and gemstones. Stones are carefully removed, checked and reset in a new design. Each stone is documented before work begins [confirm].
Sentimental details. An engraving, a particular stone, the shape of a setting or the colour of a gem can be echoed in the new piece.
Several pieces combined. Two or three inherited items can be blended into a single ring, pendant or bracelet.
Popular transformations include:
an inherited ring remodelled into a pendant
a wedding or engagement ring given a new setting
a brooch turned into a pendant or earrings
a collection of small pieces combined into a single design

What does remodelling inherited jewellery cost?
The price depends on your piece and what you’d like it to become. Many clients are pleasantly surprised because they’re reusing materials they already own.
The main things that affect cost:
the complexity of the design
how much of your existing gold and how many of your stones can be reused
whether new stones or extra metal are needed
the type of metal (gold, platinum, silver)
hallmarking and finishing requirements

This is the question clients ask us most, and it comes from care. Many people find that remodelling keeps a loved one close in a way a boxed-away piece never could, because the jewellery is worn, seen and enjoyed. The reused gold and stones carry the history with them. You decide what stays, what changes and what feels right.
