When Remodelling Your Jewellery Goes Wrong

Becky contacted us after having a disappointing experience remodelling important jewellery. The completed ring (shown here with the central fancy yellow diamond) was created using her wedding ring, yet the ring was tarnished, the edges were sharp and the ring was unwearable.
She was wary of trying again, but had been following us on our social media channels for a long time and decided to start on a Legacy design journey. She lived in Shetland, so we sent her a postal pack and got started!
Becky’s Design Brief
Original jewellery: A previously remodelling ring, featuring a fancy yellow diamond and four smaller diamonds. A family ring and a loose diamond.
Precious metals: Create the new design in a combination of platinum and Becky’s own 18ct gold from previously remodelled ring.
Design direction: Create a beautiful, wearable diamond ring.
Finished piece: A bespoke platinum and gold Legacy ring that was both beautiful and wearable.
Designing Becky’s Legacy Ring
Becky loved the Raindance-inspired designs and was open to potentially adding in more gemstones if needed. Her largest diamond was a cognac-coloured diamond, which looked beautiful with her fancy yellow and other white diamonds.
Our first concepts explored a Raindance-style. We looked at balancing her fancy yellow diamond with another, and explored precious metal colour options.
Becky ultimately opted for a stunning random-set Raindance-inspired design, with a central gold band created out of her sentimental gold.
Becky’s Completed Legacy Ring
Becky’s completed Legacy ring was beautiful. A balanced, unusual design that was both classic and contemporary.
And the best bit?
Becky was thrilled. Her completed ring was everything she had hoped for the first time around, and after her initial disappointing experience elsewhere, she was relieved and pleased in equal measure.
