When Remodelling Your Jewellery Goes Wrong
Becky’s Story

Becky contacted us after a disappointing experience remodelling some of her most important jewellery. Her first ring had been created using her wedding ring and other sentimental pieces, but she found the finished piece uncomfortable to wear. She told us that the gold had tarnished, the edges felt sharp and the gemstones appeared unevenly set. After investing in a bespoke design, she was left with a ring she simply did not wear.
Understandably, Becky was wary of trying again. However, she had been following Legacy on social media for some time and eventually decided to begin a new design journey with us. As Becky lived in Shetland, we sent her one of our secure Postal Packs and began the process remotely.
Becky’s Design Brief
Original jewellery: A previously remodelled ring, featuring a fancy yellow diamond and four smaller diamonds. A family ring and a loose diamond.
Precious metals: Create the new ring in platinum and reuse Becky’s sentimental 18ct gold from her previously remodelled ring.
Design direction: Create a comfortable, wearable Raindance-inspired ring incorporating Becky’s diamonds and sentimental gold.
Finished piece: A bespoke platinum and gold Legacy ring that was both beautiful and wearable.
Designing Becky’s Legacy Ring
Becky loved Raindance-inspired designs and was open to adding another gemstone if it helped create the right balance. Her largest diamond was a cognac-coloured diamond, which looked beautiful with her fancy yellow and other white diamonds.
Our first concepts explored a series of Raindance-inspired arrangements. We looked at balancing her fancy yellow diamond with another, and explored precious metal colour options.
Becky ultimately opted for a stunning random-set Raindance-inspired design, with a central gold band created out of her sentimental gold.
Becky’s Completed Legacy Ring
Becky’s completed Legacy ring was a beautifully balanced and unusual design that felt both classic and contemporary.
And the best bit?
Becky was thrilled. Her completed ring was everything she had hoped for the first time around, and after her initial disappointing experience elsewhere, she was relieved and pleased in equal measure.
